ULI Northwest Arkansas: Redeveloping a Healthy Corridor
May 5, 2018
The Urban Land Institute awarded a Healthy Corridors grant to the city of Fayetteville in 2017. As part of that grant, ULI Northwest Arkansas brought in several corridor revitalization experts from around the country to tour College Avenue from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Sycamore Street. The purpose of the initiative is to identify quick wins and next steps towards healthy, sustainable, and equitable redevelopment along the corridor.
On Thursday, February 22, 2018, the national panel interviewed 48 community leaders from a wide range of groups including ARDOT, UAMS, Washington Regional Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Public Schools and a host of others. The next day, the panel presented their findings to a crowd of over 120 community members and regional stakeholders.
The program is funded by support from ULI and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as a part of ULI’s Healthy Corridors program. Fayetteville was selected to participate in the program during the of Spring of 2017 along with corridors in Philadelphia, PA, St Paul, MN, and Englewood, CO
